Trailer
(VIDEO COMING SOON...)
You are coming home from a dangerous mission in the Fallen States of America. However, you run of of gasoline and are stuck in an abandoned and destroyed town. While finding the resources you need to get out, explore and find out what happened that town and its people before you go back home.
This was a one person project in the Bitsy. Using Bitsy's limitations, the project was structured in a way to show and not tell the player the story and what to do. From the environment art to the way the sprites were made, each aspect was designed in a way to work toward the player's goal.
Information about The Fallout Runner
-- Environments and Sprites --
Using Pixel Art and Spacing, the art of The Fallout Runner was made with a distinct color scheme to distinguish which sprites are static and which sprites are interactive. There are different techniques used in order to make the environment to make it feel like it is only one sprite and connected with the others in the background.
Each background is different from each others in order to make each segment different from each other. This way the player does not get lost or forget where they are.
Sprites are made to look like real-life items as well as brighter than the background art. Due to Bitsy 8x8 pixel art maker, it was a difficult task to make items that can be easily identifiable as well as be a real-world item. However, after some time and practice with the pixel maker, the items were made to best fit the game.
Each item has different descriptions and tells a different story to give out the lore of the game. Some items are scattered while others are located right in plain sight.
